Original Giron System
"The Bahala Na Multi Style are proud cofounders of the Original Giron Escrima Federation. As one of our core foundations in the Bahala Na multi style curriculum, the Original Giron Escrima System is an important link to our history and preservation of the original teachings of our teacher the late GM Leo Giron". (BahalaNa.com) Original Giron Escrima preserves the original teachings and the "Bahala Na" style of escrima of Grandmaster Leo Giron. Founder is Grandmaster Giron's son, Master Michael Giron - April 2008
From the desk of Master Michael Giron - Sunday 08 April 2007In regards to resigning as Grand Advisor and as a member of Bahala Na Martial Arts Association. This lethal Art of "Escrima' that we have learned and are privileged to teach and promote stands alone. My father, Leovigildo Miguel Giron, chose to live by the blade at a very early age. He searched for the training from many proven instructors and became very proficient. So, proficient it kept him alive or as he would say "out of harms way". He took what was "Tried and True" and created an articulate fighting system that was designed to protect and preserve life. I can't call it self defense as some of the styles and techniques are designed to be offensive. I can't call it a Martial Art, which references a classroom environment like art. I will call it a "Warrior Art" taught by not only my father but a true "Bladed Warrior". Bahala Na was chosen to be the name of the organization for several reasons. It was the battle cry that my father and his comrades used during the World War II. It has several definitions depending on the context used. the concept is that you are in a situation and death is an option. Whether you are on the defensive and/or offensive and you do what you have to do and say with conviction "I will take this to the grave", "it is now in God's Hands" or "Come what May". You have come to terms with death as a Warrior and that feeling and that fired-up spirit conveyed is the essence of "Bahala Na". I am destined by blood to continue the legacy of my Father and the Art that he has given all of us. Today's events caused me to review my convictions as a Guro and most of all as the son of Leovigildo Miguel Giron. Therefore, I have no recourse but to submit my resignation as of this date, April 7, 2007. With the most highest regards and respect. Michael Giron To view the Adobe PDF file: [Select]
